Beef and Celery Stir-Fry is a classic dish found in many Chinese households. This recipe is special because it combines the tender, savory flavors of beef with the refreshing crunch of celery.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups celery, sliced diagonally
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp cooking wine
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Substitutions and Variations

  • You can substitute beef sirloin with chicken breast or tofu for a vegetarian option.
  • Oyster sauce can be substituted with hoisin sauce if preferred.

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Add the marinated beef to the hot wok. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, or until it turns brown. Remove the beef from the wok and set it aside.
  2. Step 2: In the same wok, add a little more oil if needed. Add minced garlic and ginger. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Step 3: Add sliced celery to the wok. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until it becomes tender but still retains some crunch.
  4. Step 4: Return the cooked beef to the wok. Add the remaining 1 tbsp soy sauce and 1 tbsp oyster sauce. Mix everything well.
  5. Step 5: Stir-fry for another 2 minutes until all ingredients are well combined and heated through.

Notes

Avoid overcooking the celery to maintain its crunch and nutritional value.
